Special techniques

  • Animal models
    • A: Exposure to cigarette smoke, mimicking active or passive smoking
    • B: Asthma models acute/chronic using HDM/ovalbumin
    • C: Transgenerational animal models: in utero smoking
      • A and B include online monitoring of total particulate matter and detailed phenotypic  and molecular characterization of mothers and offspring (cotinine levels, CO-Hb, invasive lung function testing, molecular networks and immunology, propensity to asthma development in offfspring )
  • MicroRNA profiling in sera and tissues
  • Air liquid interface culture of human bronchial cells with induction of asthma-like phenotype
  • Isolation and functional characterization of Exosomes
