As part of the ECDC GenEpi-BioTrain initiative, an interdisciplinary initiative aimed at strengthening surveillance, preparedness, and outbreak response capabilities through a combination of lectures and hands-on practical sessions, the webinar introduced participants to essential R programming concepts, including basic syntax, data types, data manipulation, and visualization. Tuberculosis data served as the thematic framework, offering practical insights into microbial resistance data analysis.
The webinar, which took place from 17-20.02.2025, attracted over 1,700 participants from around the world and has received outstanding feedback from attendees. “It was an amazing feeling simultaneously teaching almost 2000 people from all around the world. Initiatives like these are also a great way for networking and establishing new collaboration opportunities," says Ivan Barilar.
All of the webinar materials remain freely accessible on the ECDC Learning Portal at https://learning.ecdc.europa.eu/course/view.php?id=1067.
