Rising antibiotic resistance threatens tuberculosis control in Ukraine

A recent study by researchers from the National University V.N. Karazin in Kharkiv, the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, and the Borstel Research Centre, Leibniz Lung Centre, shows an alarming increase in fluoroquinolone resistance in patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis in eastern Ukraine.

And the winner is...

... Dr. Olha Shchudro. In the winter semester 2024/2025, an international group of pulmonologists conducted an online lecture series on Respiratory Medicine for colleagues in Ukraine in cooperation with the V.N. Karazin University in Kharkiv. Every Friday at 15:00 local time for 17 weeks, a topic area of Respiratory Medicine was covered for one hour via video conference.

Frühjahrsempfang 2025 im Borsteler Herrenhaus

Am Freitag fand im Gartensaal der traditionelle Frühjahrsempfang des Forschungszentrums Borstel, Leibniz Lungenzentrum statt. Neben den Grußworten des Staatssekretärs Guido Wendt vom Ministerium für Allgemeine und Berufliche Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur, Schleswig-Holstein, und dem Jahresrückblick des Zentrumsdirektors wurden zudem der Preis für die beste Masterarbeit und der Promotionspreis verliehen.
